10:25-Dodge confirms Avenger
Dodge Motorsports announced today that their Avenger model would be their car of choice for the Car of Tomorrow.
The announcement was made at the North American Auto Show and included drivers Elliott Sadler, Kurt Busch and Juan Pablo Montoya.
The Avenger will be phased in as NASCAR ‘s Car of Tomorrow is, and will make its competition debut at Bristol in March. The Car of Tomorrow will be phased in over the next three years, beginning with 16 races in 2007.
During the phase in the Avenger will compete along side the current Charger. The Charger will continue to run in all non-COT events.
“With NASCAR Nextel Cup racing two distinct cars for 2007, it makes perfect sense to have the Avenger join the Charger in the Dodge racing family,” said Mike Accavitti, Director of Dodge Motorsports.
